Trance Dance – Frank Gambale with Chick Corea 2003

Vital Information – Rattletrap

This looks to be about five years old, but with Steve Smith, Tom Coster and Frank Gambale from the original VI lineup. Frank Gambale gets going about three minutes into this. Be warned though this is more straight ahead jazz than jazz-funk, with different instruments it could be be-bop.

Frank Gambale – Another Challenger (Acoustic Version)

Just shows what you can do with an acoustic guitar – and a bit of genius! I’ll post details of where you can buy/download this track in a day or so, can’t remember off the top of my head.

Frank Gambale and Vital Information – What Lies Beyond?

Another item from the 1991 Brecon Jazz Festival gig. Nice bass guitar from Jeff Andrews.

Frank Gambale and Vital Information – New Boots

Like the excellent ‘Caught in the Act’ on this site, this is another clip from the 1991 Brecon Jazz Festival. It’s much more straight-ahead jazz. Jazz guitar played with humbucker pick-ups -solid tones. NB This track is available on the CD “Easier done than said” here

Frank Gambale solo (with Brian Augur, Billy Cobham and Novecento)

This another one from the Italian gig. Stunning guitar work and Brian Augur is fantastic on keyboards.

If you never really got the idea of “Sweep Picking” have a look at the new Gambale video on the guitar tutorials page.

“Spectrum”: Frank Gambale with Novecento – featuring Brian Auger and Billy Cobham

Now is this brilliant, or what? I last saw Brian Auger at the 1965 Jazz and Blues Festival in Windsor, UK, and he went off my radar until I found him playing – brilliantly – with Tony MacAlpine on the CAB2 album. Gambale, Auguer, Cobham – this is a sensational line-ip and it sounds it!
